Who is the most recurring character of this blog?
Who is the dreaded ex that keeps popping out in my life? The one that, at least once a year, I have to deal with, to talk to, and, in some ways, to satisfy?
Who else but The Little Prince?
Because yes, The Little Prince is back to persecute me. Oh yes, you bet he is, even though he still doesn’t know about it (because yes, The Little Prince can persecute me even without knowing it, the smartass).
Anyway, let’s step back.
I first met The Little Prince almost three years ago, because he was and still is the Chief Legal Officer in a company who happened to be a client of mine when I was still at my old job. This is probably the main reason why he kept coming back: we would cross our ways because of work, or he would talk to my colleagues, or whatever.
Then again, one year ago, right before I changed company, I met his for the last time and told him to leave me alone (see Haunting you).
Today it seems that his company has dumped my old office and has chosen my new one as advisors for their acquisitions. With my usual luck, I have been designed as the person to take care of this job. This means, we might have to travel to Sweden together for a few days.
And seriously, it might be fun. Because I’m sooooo over him, that I might really have some fun showing him all my hottiness that he cannot have!!!
Oh, and yes, in case you didn’t already know, I’m a real bitch.

Whenever I'm down, I call on you my friends...
Last week I had to go to Paris for a few job meetings. Work has been pretty slow, lately, and I’m not complaining about it: although it’s boring not to have something to really focus on, it doesn’t hurt to have a little time for myself, not to mention that I’m able to stay a bit more than usual at home with Killer Smile.
Did I already mention how much I dislike going to Paris?
I know, you all think I’m crazy. The thing is, I don’t go there on vacation. I have to confront myself with the damned underground at 8AM in the morning, knowing there is some 80% of chances that my stockings will break (I always keep a spare pair in my notebook case), that I’ll probably be late, that by the time I reach our offices in the western outskirts, I’ll surely be sweaty and my clothes will be crumbled (if not stained).
Furthermore, people in Paris are not friendly. I mean, most of the times, when you go there for a meeting, at noon everyone will leave and I end up walking miles alone, not knowing what to do of my break (since the office is in the outskirts, I can’t even go shopping ).
As expected, all this happened last week (add I had to wake up at 5AM to catch the train to be at the meeting on time).
So that’s why, around 1PM I was walking around, texting Maria now and then to exchange some gossip. Earlier in the week, I had bought a new brown suede skirt (a bit short, but gorgeous!) and I was wearing in with my suede beige boots (4 inch heels, obviously) and a cute beige cashmere coat with its cute wool hat.
And then, I bumped into The Little Prince.
Who was like, the last person I was hoping to meet on Earth.
I was so surprised that, when he asked if I was in a hurry, I said no. Mistake number one: he immediately offered to take me to lunch.
I wasn’t hungry, and I hate eating with The Little Prince, because he always criticizes my veggie diet, my manners, everything. So I did Mistake number two: I proposed a coffee instead.
He agreed, but soon enough he was already reproaching my bad eating habits (meaning I don’t eat enough, according to him).
In order to avoid writing a whole book instead of a post, I’ll summarize all what he told me:
- I wasn’t dressed in an appropriate way for work (I wasn’t wearing a tailleur, and the skirt was too sexy, according to him)
- My accent, when I speak French, is too pronounced, and I should do something about it
- When asked, I couldn’t say what the plans for the rest of my life were, so according to him, at 25, I should have a plan, my ideas should be more defined
- When he spotted my cell phone (wrapped in a cute Hello Kitty cover), he said I totally need to grow up.
Of course, this is just a summary. In the end, I headed back to the office depressed. I mean, I already feel so and so about Paris, but the Little Prince has this ability to make me feel totally inadequate, lonely and lost.
Luckily for me, while I was walking back to the office, Kevin texted me
Kevin: “Hey Stranger, what’s up? Dinner tonight?” (He recently started calling me Stranger)
DDgirl “Dunno… I’m a bit in a blue mood”
Kevin: “That’s exactly why you need a hottie like me to take you to dinner”
He had a point. Late in the afternoon we made arrangements, he picked me up at my hotel at 8PM, and we spent a nice evening eating gnocchi, talking about how we both ended up doing this job, about Paris, about exes, and so on.
On Friday, we met for lunch, and at 6PM he took the underground with me to the train station, hugging me goodbye before I stepped onto the train, without forgetting to compliment my skirt and my boots.
It’s cool to have once again a friend in Paris!

Haunting you
I’m back from my mountaineering ski tour, which led me from Chamonix to Zermatt: The Haute Route , known by mountain lovers from all the world, I guess.
It was great, tiring like nothing else I’ve ever tried, especially as the weather kept changing from sun to snow, wind, storms…
I would like to tell you more, but those experiences are difficult to be put into words, and I don’t wanna be boring.
I came back to town yesterday night, and it was great to have KS at the station waiting for me, to make love to him after one week of separation. I do love him, and I’m so glad he’s in my life, I could spend many millions nights in his arms.
But you all know this, I know. Well, I have a spicier thing to tell about.
The Little Prince is in town. I should have known it, because I dreamt I met him last night, but I don’t trust a lot in all what’s “supernatural”, so I didn’t give it a second thought. Plus, it wasn’t a revealing dream or anything, I just dreamt I happened to cross his ways and exchange hellos with him. Nothing meaningful, as you see.
But this morning, when I got to work (two days till I quit!!! Yuppiiee) I crossed L., who happens to be an acquaintance of the Little Prince, and he asked me to join him for a coffee. And the he told me he had heard from the LP, who is in town and would like to see me but doesn’t want to call me as I really turned him down last time he did it. I didn’t respond anything, but smiled. L., who happens to be the less intuitive guy in the world, probably did not realize it was a cruel smile, but who cares. So, when a few minutes later my cell phone rang and the Little Prince called to ask me for lunch, I wasn’t really unprepared. Rather, I was planning things already.
The last words he had told me were still whispering in my head, “If we were meant to be together, that would still be the case”.
I arrived at lunch late, which I usually never do. He looked annoyed, asked me what the matter was.
I said “You left me waiting for you so many times, you can’t complain!” but in a cool way, as if to say “I’m still yours”. The Little Prince spent the next half an hour talking charming subjects, and then started to babble about how he misses me and how he never ever again met a girl like me.
“DDgirl, please, tell me you still care about me. I think I love you”
“Do you?”
“Yes. You know I don’t say this easily”
“Oh yes, I know it. I’ve known it very well for the whole year you kept me hanging, months without a word, never a single compliment, never a “you’re beautiful”, never anything nicer than “meet me outside the hotel”. Thank-you, I’m done with you. And I hope I’ll haunt your dreams for long, so you’ll learn what it means to have to swallow your pride and lose. And now you’ll excuse me, but I have to meet my boyfriend to chose the kitchen for our new home. Take care”.
And I left, letting him pay the bill. After all, he is a noble, so why should he go Dutch with someone so ordinary like me?

Cry me a river
Guess who sent me an email over the last night? No, you’ll never get it right, because it’s so weird I can hardly believe it myself.
But read it yourself

DDgirl,
I was just wondering how are you doing, long time I didn’t see you. Marc-AndrĂ© (my big boss, by the way) told me you’re still living in France and you’re doing well.
I hope it is true.
I’m sorry things went wrong between the two of us – can’t help but missing you.
I’ll be in town sometimes around November end/December beginning – how about a drink?
Take care
Little Prince
I meditated carefully before answering. I always try to be cool with exes, but the man has really exaggerated. Plus, it’s not the first time he tries to get into my panties since last time he dumps me. Basically, he does it every time he’s in town.

Little Prince,
I’m glad to see you’re still around and doing well. However, I thought I made it clear last time you called me: as far as possible, we won’t meet. So please stop acting like you wanted to give us another chance, don’t even make you sad about it. You must have forgotten that it was you who dumped me twice, leaving me all alone in a foreign country. Last time, you said you would have never come back guy, the damage was down.
So if now you think you want me back for good, well, you should have thought about it earlier.
Take care

Okay, maybe it was a bit hard, but revenge tastes sweet. Or, maybe, it hurt me more than him, but that’s done, so let’s go on.
As I’m still stuck in Nowhere Land, I did not see a lot of Killer Smile in these days, with the only exception of Monday night when I slept at his place.
And yes, he keeps being sweet and adorable all the time. How does he manage? Well, I have no clue, but I definitely won’t complain.

Le Petit Prince: flashback
So, as I still cannot help mentioning him awfully often (ouch), I shall probably flashback a bit to explain my relationship with le Petit Prince.
When I was still working in Italy, I was sent for a mission in Tuscany for the French office, and the client's director of legal affairs joined us. I was supersingle at time (well, I had a Toy boy, but really nothing serious), so when he asked me out for my birthday I accepted. We got together, and I joined him in Paris the next weekend. Although he lives in Chicago, he's 100% French, and he spends almost half of the year around Europe for work.
To summarize things, I fell in love, and when I was offered a job in France, I discussed the matter with him during a lusty weekend around Italy, and he encouraged me to move. So I did, only to discover he dumped me the day I arrived to France. Oh, and did I mention I did not speak a single word of French?
However, he's a major client, so I meet him now and then. In late winter he came back and we got together again, then we left on holiday with his whole family (meaning his parents, his hot brother and his cousins), and then... yeah, he dumped me once more, saying he loves to spend his time with me but he'll never fall in love with me.
Did I mention he broke my heart twice??
Now, I refuse to hear from him unless it's job-related, but... I still feel something is not yet completly over, between the two of us (did I really just admit this? OMG!!)
I'd better go on and think about Tuscan Guy! Who may or may not ask me to Tuscany next weekend. Mmmmm, I'll keep you posted on that!
